FELIDA, Wash. – Deputies arrested an 18-year-old man Wednesday, accusing him of starting a fire with fireworks that destroyed a home, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.
Police arrested 18-year-old Andrew Perez of Hazel Dell and took a 16-year-old boy into custody.
The sheriff’s office said the two intentionally pointed a firework at a home at 100 N.W. 108th Street and set it off in the early morning hours of July 5. The firework set vegetation beneath the roof of the house on fire and then caught it on fire. The fire spread through the attic and then to the entire home.
A firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
Perez was booked into the Clark County Jail and faces a charge of first-degree arson, the sheriff's office said.
The investigation is ongoing and the sheriff’s office said there may be more arrests or charges.
