Break out the SPF 30, it's gonna be a hot one
By KATU Web StaffPORTLAND, Ore. - After months of cold temperatures we are finally in for some warmth. And lots of it. According to the latest forecast, Portland's high temperature is expected to reach 88 degrees on Thursday. Here is a look at other forecasted temperatures throughout the region:
Although Thursday will be quite warm, we can expect it to sizzle on Friday. Current models show we could reach 94 degrees that day, which would be a record. Saturday is expected to hit 90 degrees, which would be another record. Sunday could be warms as well. With the return of actual hot weather, state and local officials are warning people to remember basic safety tips: don't leave kids or pets in hot cars, don't drink while boating, and local rivers are extremely cold with swift currents due to the extraordinary snowpack built up over the winter. More safety information is below the 7-day forecast. The warm temperatures could swell many rivers and streams as the snowpack at lower elevations melts under the hot sun. And remember to stay hydrated with water, not soft drinks or alcohol.It looks like Tuesday will be the first day the weather will really cool back down with a chance of light rain.
