MONMOUTH, Ore. (AP) - A 24-year-old man died Wednesday when his pickup collided with a commercial truck on Highway 99W south of Monmouth.

The Oregon State Police says the pickup driven by Nicholas Larry-Lee Faas of Dallas was passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone when it hit a truck that was pulling a loaded chip trailer.

Faas died at the scene. Police say he attended Oregon State University.

The truck driver was taken to a Corvallis hospital with minor injuries.
