Fire crews battle 2-alarm fire in SE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - A fire that started in a shed ended up spreading to a printing company and going to two alarms.

The fire broke out late Tuesday evening in the area of East Burnside Street and Southeast 99th Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting 20 feet in the air from the shed, which was right up against a neighboring printing business.

The flames jumped into that commercial building, where 12 employees were inside. The workers were forced to get out as firefighters took control.

Firefighters worked late into the evening to get the blaze knocked down.

"Right now our crews are inside and we're pulling the ceiling and opening up the roof to make sure it does not spread," Ron Rouse with the Portland Fire Bureau told us late Tuesday night.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
