2 wounded in shooting at Seattle bar; gunman dead
SEATTLE -- Two people were wounded by a gunman at a bar in Seattle's Central District Sunday night, and the gunman was later killed by a Seattle police officer.
The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. at the Twilight Exit on E. Cherry St., Seattle police said.
The gunman had come to the bar looking for his ex-girlfriend, police said. An argument ensued and the man pulled out a gun, firing several shots.
The 25-year-old woman was struck multiple times and a bouncer, described as a man in his 30s, was also wounded as he tried to intervene. Both were rushed to Harborview Medical Center but were expected to survive, police said.
Investigators said when Seattle police officers arrived on the scene and began to enter the bar, they ran into the gunman as he tried to exit. The gunman raised his gun and fired one shot before an officer returned fire and fatally wounded him, police said.
Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots.
"I parked my car and got out and you hear two gun shots," said witness Becky Goodwin. "All of a sudden you could hear someone screaming, and I started running towards my house and about 15 people started running this way screaming and crying."
She said she got into her home and called police.
"About 30 seconds later, all these police cars started coming and we heard five more shots and that was the end of it."
Police are still investigating the scene. The gunman has not been identified.
Camas sudents were Harrassing Mr. Berni's son through the entire basketball game on Tues. Jan. 22. Over 20 students wore cut-off sleeves and painted mock tattoos of the #8 on their upper arms. Mr. Berni's son had his foot in a "boot" from a ankle injury a couple of weeks ago. His was sitting on the bench supporting his team. These same students followed Mr. Berni after the game. They were yelling profanities at him. I believe he gave them the "finger". Camas police said that some offical from Camas school [ that is where the game took place] should have called them right away but they failed to. Mr. Berni's son received over 400 tweets the next day from Camas students who used foul language, Mr. Berni should not have posted what he did on facebook, but I believe that Camas school should have stopped the harrassing, and bullying of Mr.Berni's son. These situation can lead to teen suicides and after game fights. By the way, this was not due to the outcome of the game as some people believe. SKYVIEW WON.
Nice shooting, officer!
What was the name of that bar? The OK Corral?Â
Now comes all the negative comments...how the police fired too soon...how he must have had a unhappy childhood...how he must have looked at a Playboy magazine when he was a teenager.....Sounds like Seattle and Vancouver police use the same range for practice...perhaps PDX police should do some more investigation as to why WA LE only takes 1 or 2 rounds to accomplish what it takes PDX LE 20+ rounds, and usually they don't hit the bad guy.
Another violent criminal shot and killed. This is the second feel good news article I have read in the last few days where the bad guy is killed.
Â
The problem is there are so many more to go and we just can't seem to eliminate them fast enough.
 @RalphCramden NOW do you understand why people want to take away their guns, and have LESS guns, not MORE in circulation? (Probably not, but it was worth asking)
 @correct  @RalphCramden Go take the guns out of the hands of criminals then, instead of making criminals out of everybody you're going to need in order to do it.
Â
This is difficult for liberals. This is why liberals accidentally banned their own guns in New York and then had to re-rape the law so that cops didn't have to carry slingshots and boards with nails in them.
 @NotAChance They're a little delusional, in case you hadn't noticed.
 @Playanekes  @correct  @RalphCramden It is the same principle as punishing the entire classroom for the actions of one kid rather then punishing the problem child.
Â
Only in this case were not in kindergarten anymore even though I fully believe the elite leaders in the country tend to think of us all as kindergartners and that maybe why they pass laws that treatise that way as well.
Â
If you look at the number of laws we have in place that only punish the legal law-abiding non-problem causing people instead of the ones the law was supposedly passed to punish I think you'll find more than sufficient supporting evidence they were being treated like kindergartners by our legal and political system...
 @Playanekes  @correct  @RalphCramden Boards with nails in them?? Dang, you're getting medieval.... :)Â
so do you understand that criminals don't care about laws and they want fewer guns on the streets too, that way its safer for them to perform there criminal acts!
 @correct  @Playanekes  @franksbeans @Correct, have you noticed that none of your posts has any "likes" whereas everyone that replies to you has multiple "likes" kind of tells you something doesn't it? You are on the wrong track with this.
 @Jeepers Don't believe everything FOX news tells you.
Sorry Correct, once again your wrong. The majority of Americans are in fact AGAINST any further actions banning "assault" weapons. The biggest problem your little anti gun side is going to have to overcome is the fact that 99% of republicans are against new bans, while easily 20% of democrats are also on the same boat. Numbers lean against you. sorry buddy, for the record I'm one of those Democrats......
 @correct  @Playanekes  @franksbeans Hmm seems to me the creepy subculture I am reading about is more your point of view then the 47% that own guns and many more that don't own them but have no problem with others owning them.
Â
Why do you think politicians let the assault weapon ban expire in the first place. For starters it was shown to have done no good, secondly they're aware of it 50% of the people might not vote for them if they to gun ban crazy as you and others would like.
 @Playanekes  @franksbeans Here's the thing. You're not the majority. You're only a creepy subculture of people who have banded together over paranoia. Your presence in the KATU forums is akin to the presence of protesters in the parks in downtown Portland last year. They all thought they had a good point, too, but they weren't a majority and were clearly off their rockers, so they lost. Same exact thing's happening to you right now. Kinda sad if you ask me.Â
 @Playanekes  @correct  @franksbeans C'mon, types like that prefer to reside within their ideology, not reality.Â
Â
It's so much more warm and fuzzy.
@correct@franksbeans
"People just aren't buying"LMFAO!!! Have you been to a gun store lately? The one in Gresham shut its doors after selling over a thousand guns in the last three weeks. They need to restock on inventory (except for the LEO-only models in the basement.)Â
Â
"People just aren't buying"
Â
People were buying guns and magazines in line waiting for the cops to give people taxpayer money for turning in their old broken guns. "
Â
People just aren't buying"DHS just bought 7,000 "Personal Defense" assault weapons.
Â
"People just aren't buying"
Â
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Department is swamped with Concealed Handgun License applications. Lines to get into gun shows approach those in the release of a Star Wars movie.
Â
Wow.
@correct @franksbeans Well your propaganda/BS isn't working either, unless your easily brainwashed.Â
 @franksbeans Time to stop offering this excuse as a reason for arming people without any discernment whatsoever. People just aren't buying what you're saying as much as they did in the past. It rates high on the BS meter.
 @correct  @RalphCramden This is one less jealous idiot with a gun. I prefer the idiots be removed more than the tools they use.
 @EnoughAlready Both.
 @correct  @RalphCramden Yes, because they are stupid and do not understand that criminals don't obey laws.
