Fire drill turns into the real thing at the coast

WARRENTON, Ore. - Crews spent Saturday battling a grass fire at Sunset Beach near the Lewis and Clark Trail in Warrenton.

The fire began around 1:30 p.m.

According to Lt. Terry Corbit with the Astoria Fire Department, several local fire agencies and the Oregon Department of Forestry were on scene.

Corbit said a wildland fire drill was being conducted nearby and crews there were able to quickly respond when word came down that there was a fire.
