Salem Police dismantled a sophisticated indoor marijuana growing operation in a vacant residence Wednesday.

Police were notified of the grow at about 3 p.m. by a construction company that was maintaining the vacant residence.

The residence had been in foreclosure, and when workers entered the residence they found marijuana plants and paraphernalia associated with the indoor growing of marijuana.

A search warrant was obtained and investigators seized 46 plants that were each approximately 18-inches tall along with sophisticated electrical and growing equipment. The street value of the marijuana that these plants would have produced if they would have grown to maturity is estimated to be approximately $165,000.

Investigators are continuing to follow up on leads in this case, as it is believed that the suspect(s) had been at the location within the past couple of days.

Anybody with information about this case is asked to contact Salem Police Cpl. Randy Hicks at (503) 588-6050, ext: 7026.
