WEST LINN, Ore. - A man was hospitalized early Wednesday after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while changing a tire on Interstate 205.

Police were still searching for the culprit.

The victim, 57-year-old Glen Carl Ridderbush, was taken to Oregon Health and Science University with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.

According to West Linn police, Ridderbush was changing a flat tire on his Ford pickup along the shoulder of the interstate's northbound lanes near 10th Street about 2:20 a.m. when he was struck. The force of the collision broke both of his ankles and left him unable to move, police said.

Two men working in a shopping center nearby heard the crash and Ridderbush's cries for help. They came to his aid and called 911, police said.

Police believe the culprit's vehicle will have damage to the right side. An officer found two pieces of silver body-side molding at the scene. Based on that evidence, investigators believe a 2006 to 2008 silver "E-class" Mercedes-Benz hit Ridderbush.

Anyone with information on the incident was asked to call West Linn police at (503) 655-6214.
