SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A 13-year-old Salem girl has pleaded guilty to shaking her 16-month-old niece to death while babysitting.

The teenager pleaded guilty to manslaughter Tuesday in Marion County Juvenile Court.

Prosecutors said the teenager will be placed in the custody of the Oregon Youth Authority until she is 25.

The teen admitted shaking her niece, Ruby Navarro-Carbajal, when the toddler would not stop crying.

An autopsy showed the child had died from a traumatic brain injury.
