Charges dropped in bizarre 'back licking' case
Ismond Hales is surrounded by family after all charges were dropped. By KATU Web Staff
PORTLAND, Ore. - Charges have been dropped against the man accused of breaking into a second-story apartment, cutting off a woman's underwear and licking her back.
Ismond Hale said he proclaimed his innocence all along and volunteered for any kind of test that could help his case. Police said he took a lie detector test and passed. Hale was arrested after a woman reported a man broke into her northeast Portland apartment in June and she woke up to find her underwear cut off and the suspect licking her back. But prosecutors told KATU News that after reviewing all of the evidence they don't think Hale did it. "I told them what I wanted to do - DNA test, lie detector test, whatever I gotta do to let me out," Hale said in an interview. "I told them that, they let me do it [a lie detector test] and I passed, that's why the charges got dropped. I passed, I wasn't lying." Hale's sister told KATU News that her brother is a "good person" and that the accusations were out of character. Hale's girlfriend claims he was at a friend's home waiting for a ride to work at the time of the incident. She said that it was a case of mistaken identity. Hale claims it was hard to go out of the house after his arrest and that he lost his job during the whole ordeal. No new suspect information has been announced. |
