BEAVERTON, Ore. - A two-alarm fire destroyed a four-plex in Beaverton Thursday afternoon.

The blaze broke out around 1:15 p.m. at 13360 S.W. 17th Street.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames and quickly called a second alarm.  Later, while inside trying to fight the fire, a portion of the roof collapsed and they had to get out.

There was only one person, a woman, inside the four-plex.  Police and neighbors helped her get out safely.  According to neighbors, several kids are normally there, but happened to be at a neighbor's house at the time.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.  One neighbor reported hearing an explosion.

A total of 13 people have been displaced.
