Man at center of Portland Craigslist ticket scheme crosses Ohio detective's radar

PORTLAND, Ore. - A fraudulent ticket scheme that came to light here in the Northwest may have an international connection.

Back in April, police in Portland arrested 24-year-old Brandon Ruddick, a man accused of selling bogus tickets on Craigslist.

Now, according to a police detective in Ohio, Ruddick's name came up in his investigation into the sale of Cincinnati Reds tickets.  He said bank records show Ruddick was buying counterfeit tickets from a man overseas and made payments to a bank account in the Caribbean.

Police say this is just one example of how widespread these ticket scams are.  A spokesman from the Rose Garden said the easiest way to protect yourself is to only buy tickets from reputable outlets.  And always beware if the deal sounds too good to be true.
