SALEM, Ore. - A 14-year-old skateboarder was seriously hurt Tuesday night when he lost control of his board down a hill and was hit by a car, police said.

Isaac Haskins of Keizer was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland with life-threatening injuries, police said. His condition was not immediately known Wednesday.

The teen was riding his skateboard east down the hill on Taybin Road Northwest about 9:30 p.m. when he apparently lost control and entered the intersection with Wallace Road, where he was hit by a 1974 Dodge Dart driven by 19-year-old Tanner Salem of Salem, police said.

No citations were immediately issued.
