BEAVERTON, Ore. - Police believe a man ran a red light and crashed into a pickup at a Beaverton intersection, killing the other driver early Monday.

According to Beaverton police, 38-year-old Narcisco Trejo Castro of Hillsboro was driving a Gray Chevy Suburban east on Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway when investigators believe he ran a red light and crashed into a red Nissan pickup that was heading south on Southwest Murray Boulevard about 5:40 a.m. The pickup had a green light, police said.

The driver of the pickup, 53-year-old Steven Richard Armony of Portland, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Trejo Castro was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital for treatment of injuries police described as non-life-threatening.

The area was closed for several hours Monday morning as officials investigated the wreck. No charges or citations were immediately issued.
