Police searching for missing Salem teen

PORTLAND, Ore. - Police on Monday continued to search for a developmentally disabled 19-year-old from Salem who may be lost in Portland.

Jose Luis Aguilar, who has the mental capacity of an 8-year-old or 9-year-old, was last seen Friday morning when he left to go to Chemeketa Community College, police said. Though he had permission to go to the Lancaster Mall after school, he left a voice message with his sister about 6 p.m. Friday saying he was lost in Portland.

Then two days later, he left another voice message about 6 p.m. asking for his sister to come pick him up, police said. However, he did not know where he was because he was lost.

The teen's family is concerned for his welfare because he does not have sufficient skills to be out on the street alone, police said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Aguilar was asked to call Salem Police at (503) 588-6123 or to call their local police.

UPDATE: Police said Aguilar made his way back to Keizer from the Portland area and called his sister, who picked him up. Police said he was uninjured and back with his family Monday night.
