CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK, Ore. (AP) - Volunteers are needed for the Crater Lake Ski Patrol.

The volunteers will patrol the national park's cross-country ski trails and provide visitors with information and emergency medical services if needed.

Ski patrol volunteers will learn wilderness first aid, survival and ski skills.

They'll also get instruction on winter shelter construction, avalanche awareness, search and rescue protocols, how to use GPS and helicopter safety.

Mandatory training sessions are held at Crater Lake National Park on Nov. 1 and 2, and also on Dec. 6 and 7.
