Off-duty cop pulls woman from burning home

LONGVIEW, Wash. – A 77-year-old Longview woman is calling an off-duty police officer from Castle Rock her "guardian angel" after he pulled her from her burning house.

When Judy Duley's home caught fire Saturday morning, Officer Charlie Worley just happened to be driving by on his way to work.

When the policeman saw a black plume of smoke coming from Duley's garage, he kicked down her front door and pulled Duley to safety with the help of neighbors.

"I’ve always known I had a guardian angel, I just never had a chance to meet him up until now," Duley said.

Investigators say a space heater in a bathroom off the garage sparked the fire.

They say once it sparked the fire, flammable material in the house sent flames 25 feet into the air.

Duley is staying with friends while she figures out what to do with her damaged home.
