Drivers: Watch out for standing water

This is a press release courtesy of the Portland Office of Transportation

The public is advised that there are several areas of standing water on Portland streets tonight, especially areas east of 102nd Avenue. Maintenance Operations crews are working to clear clogged catch basins, culverts, and trash racks to help stormwater drain properly.

Motorists are advised to slow down. Low visibility, high water, and wet leaves are creating hazardous driving conditions. Motorists are also advised to watch carefully for pedestrians and bicyclists, who may be in the street to avoid a flooded corner or who may be moving quickly to get out of the rain or catch a bus. Darkness limits everyone's visibility. Look out for each other.

If Portland residents are unable to clear catch basins themselves, they are advised to call (503) 823-1700 to report a clogged basin. Crews will respond as resources allow. Note that this number is for Portland residents only, and services will be provided only within Portland City limits and on City-maintained streets.
