NEAR MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - A man driving a modified motor home was killed Tuesday morning west of McMinnville when his vehicle was rear ended by one semi truck and pushed into the side of another, authorities said.

Oregon State Police identified the man killed as 40-year-old Miguel Martinez-Perez of McMinnville.

According to state police, Martinez-Perez was driving the motor home west on Highway 18 and was beginning to turn left onto Christensen Road when it was rear-ended by a 2001 Mack truck pulling an empty chip trailer. The force of the impact pushed the motor home into the left side of an oncoming 1998 Kenworth truck.

Martinez-Perez, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

Neither the driver of the Mack truck, 26-year-old Devin Lewis of Portland, nor the driver of the Kenworth truck, 32-year-old Michael Olson of Astoria, were seriously injured, state police said. Both were wearing a seat belt.

Investigators closed the highway in both directions, and state transportation crews established a detour in the area.

State police said the motor home was being used as a mobile restaurant.
