Best selling author's latest book details five Northwest murders
By Molly Shen
Seattle's Ann Rule turns true crime into best sellers.
Her latest book just came out, and it shot up the sales ranks on both amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com as soon as it was available. "Mortal Danger" maps out five Northwest murder cases. They are stories that made news headlines, including the story of Daniel Tavares, the felon from Massachusetts who killed a newlywed couple in Graham. There's a cold case killing, solved 30 years after a teenager found the victim's body. And the title story profiles a domestic violence murder suicide that revealed a hidden history of crime. They are separate cases with a common thread. "Every story in this book is about people trusted too much and they didn't realize the worst danger in their life was was part of it," Rule says. A former Seattle police officer, Rule has developed a close, trusted relationship with her sources. She's now written about 1,400 homicides through her 29 books and countless magazine articles. In the 1970's, she profiled the murders of Laura Baylis and Sara Beth Lundquist and thought they would never be solved. Now, they make up a chapter in the new book. "These were two separate cases. And in a way, they were intertwined in a way I never could've imagined," Rule says. She hopes the stories serve as a cautionary tale, warning readers to truly get to know the people they let into their lives. For More Information: http://www.annrules.com/ |
