TACOMA, Wash. -- Police are asking for help tracking down a man who robbed a bank using a Bible.

Investigators said the man walked into a US Bank branch near the intersection of 11th Street South and Broadway Avenue just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

He gave a bank teller a Bible and told her to open it to a specific page, which contained a note demanding cash.

The note said he would shoot and kill the teller if he did not get the money.

Before walking out of the bank, the robber took the money and told the teller he was leaving town and would pay her back.

The robber is a black man, 35 to 40 years old, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing sunglasses, a red and white striped knit hat, and he spoke with a Caribbean accent, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 253-591-5959.
