Girl, 12, raped in popular Eugene park

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Eugene police are investigating the rape of a 12-year-old girl at Alton Baker Park.

Police spokeswoman Melinda Kletzok says the attack occurred Wednesday in the late afternoon. She says the victim, her sister and a cousin were riding their bikes when they were approached by a young man who had an 8- to 9-year-old boy with him.

The man allegedly forced the girl to the ground and forcibly raped her.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man with ear-length curly black hair, a goatee and a tattoo of a heart on his left arm above the elbow. He wore a black fur coat.

The boy he was reportedly with had blond hair.
