Vandals slash dozens of tires in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, Wash. – Police are looking for three people who ran from an area in Vancouver where over 30 cars had their tires slashed.
One man described the suspects as “three kids” and saw them run off Saturday night as he called 9-1-1.
Deputies responding to the call chased the three suspects but were unable to catch them.
In all, 35 vehicles had the their tires punctured with a sharp object. There was no pattern and a wide variety of vehicles were targeted.
Numerous tenants at the Cherry Wood Park apartments were especially hard hit. One man said he was on a pension and the expense to replace the tires was going to cause hardship for him and others.
Cars parked in the driveways of homes near the complex were also hit by the vandals. In all, it appeared that 35 vehicles had one or more tires slashed.
Neighbors said they will be keeping an eye out for the vandals.
A local business, Hoesly Eco Auto and Tires, said they would sell victims tires at cost and install them for free beginning Monday.
