Some Clackamas County roads still closed due to flooding
The Clackamas River as it appeared last week. The following is a press release from Clackamas County: MOST CLACKAMAS COUNTY ROADS ARE OPEN; DRIVERS ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES; RESIDENTS ASKED TO CLEAR DRIVEWAY CULVERTS As of mid-day Monday, Jan.5, only a few Clackamas County roads were still closed because of the recent heavy rains and no county residents were "landlocked." County road workers have been on the job 24-hours a day since Dec. 13.
The county is asking for the cooperation and help of motorists and residents to keep people safe and roads drivable, especially because there is more heavy rain in the forecast: Residents are asked to clear plugged driveway culverts. Residents are asked to prune vegetation on their property that is hanging into travel lanes. Motorists are advised not to move or go around road barricades. Traveling on a prohibited road is a violation of state law. Even if you think you can see pavement, there may be other risks that can't be seen such as damaged shoulders or roadbed washout. To report any type of road damage, call the county's Pothole Hotline at 503-650-3262. |
