MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Gold Hill woman has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to killing the husband who had abused her for years.

Wanda Lee Taylor was convicted of criminally negligent homicide after she was originally charged with murder in the September 2007 shooting and stabbing death of her 46-year-old husband, Gill Edward Taylor.

Wanda Taylor dropped off her children at a friend's house with a note asking they be cared for if anything happened to her.

The 43-year-old Taylor returned home and later called 911. Jackson County sheriff's deputies found her husband's body with multiple gunshot and stab wounds.

Testimony at her trial depicted her husband as a violent man who beat his wife and children, threatened to kill them, and had shot several of the family pets.
