Puppies that lost their mother will be up for adoption

PORTLAND, Ore. - Ten puppies from Texas are looking for some new homes in the Portland area.

The puppies were born at a remote airstrip in Texas.  Their mother, a stray, was killed by a car.

Hillsboro Aviation pilot Mike Scheel was on assignment in Texas at the time and when he learned about the puppies, he called his co-workers.  Together, they made arrangements to bring the puppies to Oregon.

"When the president of our company found out about the situation and knew that we were all trying to save these guys, he said 'let's do whatever it takes to save them, let's make it a company priority,'" Scheel said.

All of the puppies will be up for adoption within a few days.
