Teen girl accused of killing mother
TACOMA, Wash. -- Police here have arrested 16-year-old who allegedly stabbed her mom to death and left the body in a Tacoma house for days.
Police spokesman Mark Fulghum said the teenager allegedly killed her mother during a domestic dispute at their home on Sunday.
After the murder, investigators said, the girl went to stay with her grandmother in Seattle.
Sometime Thursday evening, the teen's grandmother learned of the murder and called 911, Fulghum said.
Seattle police took the girl into custody, and Tacoma police went to the home in the 800 block of South "I" Street where the girl and her mom lived.
Officers kicked in the door and found the woman's body inside the house. She is in her mid 30s, but officials are working to notify other family members and have not released her name.
On Friday morning, police still had the area around the home cordoned off while a forensic team searched the home and collected evidence.
It was not clear what prompted the alleged fight on Sunday.
