Passenger dies, driver lives after car hits tree

BEAVERCREEK, Ore. - A Beavercreek man has been arrested after the car he was driving crashed early Saturday and killed an Oregon City-area woman who was riding with him.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office identified the deceased as 22-year-old Bethanie Marie Adamson.

The driver, 23-year-old Nicholas Ray Lunde, was airlifted to Oregon Health and Science University, where he was treated and released into the custody of deputies.

He was lodged in the Clackamas County jail on a second-degree manslaughter charge. His bail was set at $250,000.

A sheriff's office spokesman on Saturday could not confirm the relationship between the pair.

According to the sheriff's office, the man was driving a white 1999 BMW in the 25100 block of South Ridge Road in Beavercreek when for an unknown reason the car left the road and struck a tree about 3:45 a.m.

Investigators believe both speed and alcohol contributed to causing the crash.
