Ballot measure proposes limits on strip clubs

Tools

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - If approved by voters, a proposed ballot measure would amend the Oregon Constitution to restrict the location and operation of any strip club.
The measure would allow state, county, and city governments to use alcohol regulatory authority and zoning authority to do this.
Former gubernatorial candidate and Republican State Party Chairman Kevin Mannix is leading a charge of Oregonians. They are fed-up with Oregon's unrestrictive laws on the location of strip clubs and strip acts in Oregon.
Mannix, prominent Salem realtor Marge Houck and other groups have formed a Political Action Committee. They are called Oregonians Protecting Neighborhoods. They filed an initiative petition last month with the Secretary of State.
Last week, both the Oregon ACLU and a Portland law firm filed a legal objections to the A-Gs preliminary ballot title.
