Mount Rainier earthquake not volcanic
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - Scientists at the Cascades Volcano Observatory in Vancouver say a shallow earthquake east of Mount Rainier was not a sign of a coming eruption.
Geologist Julie Griswold says the 4.5 earthquake that shook the area Saturday night was not related to volcanic activity.
More than 1,200 people reported feeling the earthquake, which was followed by dozens of small aftershocks.
