COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE - A hiker fell about 35 feet down a ravine on Saturday and his friends said they are amazed he wasn't injured.

"As soon as it happened, we were all praying for him and luckily, thank the Lord, he's alright," said roommate Dan MacOurek.

The incident happened near the Triple Falls trail.  A group of four who were out for a hike ran into trouble when they went off the trail.  One of the men in their group got too close to the edge, slipped on some moss and fell about 35 feet to the water below.

The man's friends said he was able to pull himself to shallow water and surprisingly did not seem to have any injuries.  But he wasn't able to get out of the ravine and some nearby hikers used their cell phone to call for help.

Rescuers arrived on scene and were able to get the man to safety.  His identity has not been released.
