Fake Oakley importer sentenced in Portland
By Associated PressPORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A New Yorker who conspired with two men to sell fake Oakley sunglasses has been sentenced by a federal judge in Portland to six months home detention and five years probation. U.S. Attorney for Oregon Karin Immergut said Monday that 35-year-old Yu Chou imported the sunglasses from China and supplied them to Kirk Bachelder and Kevin McAfee of Salem. The Salem men then resold them over the Internet. Immergut says Oakley spent years trying to stop the trafficking operation before asking federal authorities to step in. The Salem men had been previously sentenced to home detention and probation. The three defendants agreed to collectively pay $183,000 in restitution to Oakley. |
