Oregon colleges will see tuition costs spike

PORTLAND, Ore. - Thousands of Oregon college students may get sticker shock next year.
Tuition at the state's public universities are going up to help offset state budget cuts.
At Portland State University - the state's largest - tuition may go up from 10 to 13 percent.
At Oregon State, planned hikes will be between 9.5 and 10 percent.
In Eugene, University of Oregon students should expect a 7 percent hike. Western Oregon University should see up to a 9 percent increase.
The average tuition at Oregon universities is now close to $7,000 per year.
