This is a press release courtesy of the Oregon State Police Clean up efforts are set to continue Friday morning following a minor injury commercial truck rollover crash on Highway 22 about four miles west of Detroit. The truck was transporting sheets of mirrored glass that spilled onto the highway. According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Senior Trooper Doug Brown, on May 28, 2009, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a commercial truck driven by Dave Chavez, age 54, from Cave Junction, lost control and rolled, spilling a load of glass onto the highway. Chavez was transported by ambulance to Santiam Memorial Hospital. The truck is registered to Combined Transport Inc. out of Central Point. Senior Trooper Brown is continuing the investigation. ODOT and local emergency responders are assisting at the scene.
The highway re-opened at about 9:20 p.m. and clean-up efforts were to continue into Friday morning with the help of flaggers assisting traffic getting through the area.
