This is a press release courtesy of the Oregon State Police
A truck transporting bees overturned Sunday afternoon at the junction of Highway 97 and Highway 197, spilling the load onto the highway. There was a report of a minor injury to a passenger but no reports of anyone being stung by the bees. On December 3, 2006 at approximately 2:27 p.m., a 1998 Freightliner truck transporting a large load of bees housed in portable hive boxes overturned after losing control at the junction of Highway 97 and Highway 197. The beehive boxes spilled onto Highway 197, blocking the highway. The bees were eventually moved onto the shoulder for reloading onto another vehicle. The driver, Cuteberto Guadarrama Diaz, 22, from Aloha, was not injured. Oregon State Police cited him for Failure to Maintain a Lane of Travel. A passenger, also from Aloha, received minor injuries and was transported to Mt. Hospital in Madras. ODOT and local emergency responders assisted at the area.
