TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Keep your eyes on the fries.

Tacoma firefighters say that in the past two months, they've fought a dozen kitchen fires - half of them caused by people cooking french fries.

The latest fire was at a duplex Monday. The News Tribune of Tacoma says it caused $100,000 in damage and displaced five people.

Tacoma fire spokesman Joe Meinecke offers this advice for french fry frying fans: Be careful, stay in the kitchen, keep flammable things away from the stove top, and "Watch what you are cooking."
