LONGVIEW, Wash. - A group of young boys is in hot water after police say they broke into a home over the course of several days and trashed everything inside.

The damage is hard to believe - graffiti on the trashed refrigerator, furniture thrown around, food and garbage scattered all over the floor.

The renter who lives in the home was out of town when it happened and police say at least seven boys between the ages of 11 and 15 are to blame.

We talked to the parent of one suspect, who did not want her face shown or her name used.

"My kid was involved - 13-year-old," she said.  "I made him apologize to the person and he will be over there helping clean up the mess."

Even she could not believe how much damage there was.

"(I was) totally shocked," she said.  "I've never seen anything that bad.  It's horrible. War zone. Horrible."

A neighbor called 911 Thursday night when they realized what was going on and police caught the suspects just a short distance away.  The kids allegedly stole everything from a flat screen TV to video game consoles for a total of $4,000 in stolen items, in addition to the $40,000 in damage.

And to make matters worse, neighbors say the man who rents the home does not have renter's insurance.

"I think they should be held responsible," said neighbor Shirley Dale.  "They need to be held responsible. They need to know that they can't get by with stuff like that."

The mother of that 13-year-old suspect agrees.

"If it comes down to it, I will take my son to juvenile," she said. "He is responsible.  He will pay."

None of the boys have been arrested yet.  Authorities say they will likely face burglary charges.
