PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - A 47-year-old Carlton man who caused a fatal wreck that killed four people last fall pleaded guilty Thursday to four counts of first-degree manslaughter.

John Cole Carlgren could get decades in prison when he is sentenced July 24.

District Attorney Dean Gushwa says Carlgren's blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit after his pickup struck a car from behind on Interstate 84 east of Pendleton. Jessie Cline of Hermiston and his three passengers all died at the scene.

Carlgren, a pipefitter for an oil company, had four prior convictions for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
