Police: Motorcyclist was going 122 mph on I-205
By KATU.com StaffPORTLAND, Ore. — Authorities said a motorcyclist was eventually caught after going 122 mph along Interstate 205 in east Portland early Saturday, weaving among the slower vehicles. According to Oregon State Police, a trooper using radar clocked the 2007 Suzuki SX7 motorcycle going that fast while the operator was heading south on I-205 near Powell Boulevard about 3 a.m. The motorcyclist made several quick lane changes without using a signal between other vehicles before taking the Southeast Foster Road exit, state police said. When a trooper tried to pull him over, the motorcyclist instead sped south on Southeast 92nd and onto area side streets, causing the trooper to end the chase. About two minutes later, authorities spotted the motorcycle stopped at the intersection of Southeast Flavel and Southeast 82nd and arrested the operator. Ryan Robert Dowley, 20, of southeast Portland, was booked in the Multnomah County jail on charges of reckless driving and attempting to elude police. He was also cited for speeding. |
