LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - The body of a Lake Oswego man who was despondent over financial problems and disappeared a few weeks ago has been found, according to his family.

Jeff Clausen was last seen at his Lake Oswego office of Farmer's Insurance the morning of June 12.

His family said in recent months the economic downturn began affecting his business, personal finances and his outlook on life.  His wife, Christine Vanek-Clausen, said their home was on the verge of foreclosure and he had recently been trying to short-sell it.

“He definitely saw it as doomsday,” she said.  “We had to change our lifestyle, we changed out our vehicles, our home.  He just couldn't see beyond not having the money.”

Dallas Vanek, Clausen’s stepson, said, “He changed so much in the last year - he changed into a completely different person.”

According to his family, Clausen's body was found off Highway 26 at Timber. Details about his death were not released but his family said he did leave a note behind.
