Tom Potter, former Portland mayor.
PORTLAND, Ore. - Former Portland mayor Tom Potter is going public to explain why he is supporting a recall of the city's current mayor, Sam Adams.
Opponents are trying to have Adams recalled because of lies he told about his relationship with a teenage intern.
Potter initially posted on his Facebook page that he supported the effort to recall Adams, without really explaining why.
In a letter to Portland gay news magazine Just Out, Potter wrote "during his time as City Commissioner and Mayor, Sam Adams has demonstrated his serious lack of judgment, a complete lack of integrity, his serial lying to win an election and his callous disregard for others. What this issue is about for me is the mayor's attempt to deny and cover up his actions." READ THE ENTIRE LETTER
Adams' office did not return a call for comment.
