An arsonist destroyed a Woodland school bus Sunday night.

WOODLAND, Wash. – A charred hunk of metal is all that remains of a Woodland school bus after it was torched by an arsonist Sunday night.

The fire was called in by Burlington Northern crews but by the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the school bus was destroyed, for a loss of $110,000.

Fire officials said if the fire started a few hours earlier or later, the outcome could have been catastrophic.

High humidity on Sunday night kept the fire from spreading into the nearby woods.

Also, since the bus was parked away from the other buses, the fire did not spread to them. Officials said if the bus was parked with the others, the school’s losses could have been in the millions.

Police are investigating a few suspects for arson. If anyone knows anything, they can call Woodland police.
