GLIDE, Ore. -- A wildfire has closed Highway 138 between Roseburg and Diamond Lake about 19 miles east of Glide.
The fire already may have burned 50 acres and sparked a spot fire of 3 or 4 acres in tough terrain with tough access, according to fire officials.
The fire is burning on U.S. Forest Service land in the Bogus Creek area near Steamboat.
The call came in around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday. Helicopters have made some drops on the fire, and grounds crews are arriving on scene.
The fire has burned to the top of the ridge in the Bogus Creek area and may be burning towards the highway, fire officials told KVAL News (KATU's Roseburg television news partner).
An archaelogical dig was scheduled by archaelogists for today in the area. No word yet on their status.
Bogus and Williams Creek campgrounds may be evacuated. Authorities have yet to confirm if or when that may occur.
This fire is just one of many burning Tuesday throughout the Oregon area.
