SEATTLE, Wash. – Washington drivers who have vehicle registrations that expire in September will now see an optional $5 fee on their renewal.
The $5 donation would go to fund state parks which have seen steep budget cuts in recent years, including a number of park closures.
Although drivers don’t have to pay the fee, state officials said any money raised will help offset some park budget reductions.
