PORTLAND, Ore. The group trying to recall Portland Mayor Sam Adams says it has about 10,000 signatures.

The Community to Recall Sam Adams said that's one-third of the number of signatures it needs. The group said it has distributed about 6,000 petitions to more than 450 volunteers.

The group has until October to come up with more than 32,000 valid signatures. Once certified the mayor either has to resign or face a recall vote.
