A 16-year old girl was killed and her father seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when their car collided with a fully loaded dump truck at the intersection of Highway 18 and Lafayette Highway in Yamhill County. 

The victim and her father's name and residence information are being withheld pending completion of next of kin notification.

Preliminary information from Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Brad Hessel indicates on Aug. 25 at approximately 2:40 p.m. a 1990 Toyota Camry four-door driven by the 16-year-old victim was stopped on Lafayette Highway at the north side of the intersection with Highway 18. 

The Toyota began to cross the intersection southbound toward the opposite side of Lafayette Highway when it was struck in the driver's side by a westbound 1989 Mack dump truck pulling a fully loaded dump trailer operated by Roger Dean Wise, age 65, from Sheridan. 

Prior to impact, Wise braked hard and steered left but was unable to avoid the Toyota.  The impact pushed the Toyota onto the east side shoulder where the vehicles came to a stop.

The Toyota's driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her 47-year old father seated in the right front seat was seriously injured and subsequently transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health Sciences University.  Both were using safety restraints.

Wise was using safety restraints and wasn't injured.  He owns the dump truck which was loaded with dirt and rock.

OSP troopers from the McMinnville Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, Oregon Department of Transportation and the McMinnville and Dayton fire departments assisted.
