BEND, Ore. -  A dusting of snow fell on Mt. Bachelor's mid-mountain Labor Day weekend, marking the beginning of a snow season that resort officials said should kick off skiing by the week of Thanksgiving.

Over the Labor Day weekend the snow line at Mt. Bachelor was at about 7,500 feet - leaving less than 1,500 more feet to go before opening day.

From the Cascade Lakes Highway, looking north from the Mt. Bachelor resort, the snow cap in the area can plainly be seen.
