A Pomeranian shot in Vancouver

This 2-year-old Pomeranian, Bear, was found shot to death outside his Vancouver home Friday.

VANCOUVER, Wash. - People are calling it animal cruelty at its worst. It's a crime a pet owner and police hope someone will help solve.

Neighbors said Janine Owen returned to her Vancouver home Friday night and found her dog "Bear," a 2-year-old Pomeranian, dead from a wound to the neck. It had been shot with a pellet gun or small caliber weapon.

"You just don't take it into your hands and go shoot somebody's dog," said neighbor Mike Brown. "So I don't know if it was somebody who was flat-out mad over something or some sick individual who wanted to kill something."

The family's other Pomeranian was not injured.

A sign in front of Owen's Vancouver home shows Bear, and asks for information on who may have shot and killed him. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Vancouver police tip line at (360) 487-7399.
