Search resumed for capsized Washougal fisherman

NEHALEM, Ore. - The search for a missing fisherman whose boat was found Friday afternoon, overturned in the Pacific Ocean, has resumed. His boat was found about two miles off shore from Nehalem Bay, Ore

Missing fisherman Robert Shaw.On Oct. 9, the search was initiated for 62-year-old Robert Shaw from Washougal, Wash., after his wife reported him missing. Shaw reportedly went fishing alone on his 12-foot boat Thursday in the area of the lower Nehalem Bay in northern Tillamook County. He failed to return to where he was staying with his wife in Wheeler.

Personnel from Tillamook County search and rescue, U.S. Coast Guard and the Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division started searching the area. At around 3 p.m. the man's overturned boat was found about two miles off shore.

The Coast Guard suspended its search after five hours spent looking for Shaw on Friday. Oregon State Police Trooper Ryan Howell reports that search and rescue personnel from Tillamook County Sheriff's Office resumed search efforts Saturday.
