Eugene teacher sorry for partying with students
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A former teacher who supplied beer and marijuana to students at a birthday party told a judge she was "incredibly remorseful" for her conduct.
Brandye Sauvajon, 37, was sentenced yesterday to probation and community service. She must also forfeit her license to teach in Oregon.
She taught at McKenzie High School in Lane County.
Sauvajon, who now lives in Medford, pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a minor and furnishing alcohol to minors.
Officials say Sauvajon lived as a caretaker at a resort there. A room was rented for a birthday party for a high school student.
Sauvajon was intoxicated when she checked in on the party as part of her caretaking duties.
Students told investigators that the teacher supplied at least one beer and some marijuana. One student photographed Sauvajon holding a marijuana pipe.
